Signs of Change
Friday, October 30th, 2020 - Saturday, January 9th, 2021
2020 has been a year of growing pains. What comes from those pains? Change.
With a country divided, we have seen groups of people show up to stand up for what they truly believe in, even in the times of this pandemic. Freedom of speech and fighting against injustice and racism is more important.
Gallery of Contemporary Mosaic (GoCM) presents the exhibition Signs of Change, which presents wall-to-wall visuals of protest signs, cartoons and mixed media that have been used in demonstrations around the world in this historic year.
This exhibition intends to create a space for all these voices to be seen and heard, and for a discourse to happen, facilitating the possibility of different viewpoints to be understood.
This exhibition is being co-curated by Evanston-based letter press printmaker, Ben Blount, who uses the art of letter press printing to explore questions of race and identity.
